Out of hibernation

Thingummy and Wotsit were put into semi-hibernation back in November and spent about four months resting. It was the first time that they'd been given a time-out since we've had them. We checked on them regularly to see that they were ok, and then a week ago it was time to bring them back into daylight. I thought it would take them a long time to get reacclimatised to their aquarium, but within just a couple of days they were completely back to normal. You can see that they are already enjoying the opportunity to sunbathe.

We too are enjoying the chance to get some rays of sunshine. We drove down to Starnberg lake on Sunday in glorious weather and had lunch at a cafĂ© there. After that we had a short walk along the lakeside and watched the swans hiss at all the small dogs that trotted past. We are expecting it to be as warm as 18°C this week. It isn't quite time to swap the cars' winter tyres for the summer ones, but the flowerbeds are stirring already and the daffodils are blooming.
