Spring is springing up everywhere, so Mike is on the look-out for interesting wildlife again. He took me to the local woods before breakfast on Sunday, in search of big game with little babies, and we spotted a family of wild boar (too far away to photograph) and a family of deer, as well as various birds including this handsome woodpecker. Other birds must have been breeding locally as well, witness the eggshells (or remains of). The one bottom-left was left on our lawn by a blackbird, and we think the others, which came from the village pond, are probably duck and starling. Fortunately Mike hasn't found any yucky creepy-crawlies so far this year, but I know he eventually will.
