Anniversary day out
Mike has been busy creating more works of art from bits of wood that he has spotted while out walking in the forest. The runner was assembled from prunings from a neighbour's hazel tree. The wrinkly horned creature was lying in our garden for several years before Mike spotted the face hiding in it, and the sharpened forked branch was sculpted by the local beavers before Mike brought it home from a dog walk.
Mike (have you noticed, this is all about Mike? ;-) again spent Easter weekend ski-touring in the Alps with his mate Pete. On Saturday they had near-white-out conditions, so instead of trying to find the way to a summit, they entertained themselves by digging a snow cave. The following day the sun came out and they were rewarded with perfect conditions, enjoying lovely views and a superb powder-snow descent.
Mike and I (yay, it's my turn!) celebrated our 18th wedding anniversary this weekend, first with a long dog walk followed by a posh breakfast in one of our locagarden centres on Saturday; and yesterday with a beautiful walk above Mittenwald, rounded off with delicious slices of gateaux from our nearby cake shop.
