Half-marathon Man
I'm terribly in arrears with my blog. We have photos here that go back to half-term.
Lucy spent the half-term holiday recovering from having all her wisdom teeth extracted. I was still taking part in the three-week rehabilitation programme for my hip injury, but because I was now fit enough to walk Belka more than a few yards, Mike was able to go away. He spent two days in Austria, ski-touring and cross-country skiing with the Pages and the Powells, then he flew to England to visit his dad.
In between helping out at home in Salisbury, he went for a run around the local countryside, enjoying the local views and animal life. This was all part of his training for a half-marathon he was entered for, which took place last Saturday. It was thrilling to see him run over the finish line two minutes faster than he'd hoped, and as you can see above, he looked no different. The beer he's holding after finishing is actually non-alcoholic and prized for its isotonic properties.
We've managed recently to go to one of the larger art museums in Munich again, this time to see some works by African artist El Anatsui. As you can see, his wall hangings (made of nothing but aluminium bottle tops and copper wire) are much, much larger than life.
