1st Advent

Typical signs of advent
Last Sunday marked the beginning of the festive season. We lit the first candle on our advent "log". It would traditionally be a wreath, but binding one yourself is rather labour-intensive. Since I like to wield the glue gun occasionally and make things, we compromised: Mike secured the candle holders on the log, and I stuck some greenery on it. And Bob's your uncle.

I felt a surge of creativity recently, and after spotting a particularly nice-looking mountain-themed advent calendar, I decided to set to and produce one for Mike. That was very labour-intensive, but he's worth it!

We received a suprise visit from our good friend Jutta on Sunday, along with her caramel-coloured labrador, whom she got as a pup back in January. Belka and Fanny met for the first time and got on astonishingly well. Jutta did what she has done three years in a row now: brought an advent calendar especially for Belka, replete with odd-looking, strange-smelling treats that only dogs would enjoy. Belka is, needless to say, extremely happy (at least until the 25th, when it will be empty).
