Lovely holiday

We had a wonderful holiday in England. We went to Salisbury, Corfe, Swanage, Lulworth Cove, Lyme Regis, Barnstaple and Plymouth. The place we visited that had the best name, however, just has to be Scratchy Bottom!

You could say that we were on a sort of heritage and nature trail throughout the holiday, as you will see from the grasshopper picture. There was a toad or two on our campsite, genuine Soay sheep at Corfe Castle, wasps galore wherever we went and plenty of butterflies. Blackberry-picking has to have been one of our favourite pastimes during those two weeks too. You don't just walk past blackberry bushes where we live - you have to leave a few banknotes at the supermarket if you want to enjoy the taste of a handful.

Old Sarum, Durdle Door, Avebury and Corfe presented us with lots of history to tell Lucy about. As long as you can climb on it, she's interested (though the rock arch at Durdle Door was out of bounds, unlike all those years ago when Mike were a lad).

Imagine my disappointment to arrive home and discover that Wotsit had done a bunk. Luckily for us all he had been scooped off the pavement around the corner and given refuge in a neighbour's pond. Today he was finally located, overpowered and handed back to us. You'd think he would know he had it good at our place, but oh no, the teeniest of gaps in the fence seemed to have tempted him to go AWOL. It's becoming embarrassing around here, being the terrapin owners who keep losing them. Tsk.
