Happy Valentine's Day!

And happy birthday to Mike. Lucy and I woke him this morning with a box full of presents. We think his favourite is the 1.4kg monster jar of chocolate spread.

Mike slept very well last night. He obviously got lots of fresh air and exercise building a snow cave with his mates on his birthday weekend. Mike, Pete and Alan spent Saturday night in the luxury of a two-room cave. On Sunday morning they breakfasted on instant noodles, and cake made by Alan.

What do you get the man who has everything? Due to his love of all things of a piggy nature we decided to sponsor a pig for Mike for his birthday from Oakhill Farm. Next Saturday we'll be travelling to Stuttgart by train to see, among other things, the pig museum. Then that'll be enough pigs for this year methinks.

Mike's company, EOS, is represented with a picture and a very positive statement on the front page of this week's Economist. This is a proud moment indeed.

Last weekend I was allowed to go to Innsbruck for two days with my Stitch n Bitch pals. We travelled by train and spent the two hours between Munich and Innsbruck knitting and chatting, but obviously too loudly, because a lady came up to us and asked us to keep the noise down! The main aim of the trip was to accompany Jane while she ordered a harp direct from the craftsman in a town nearby called Schwaz. We spent the second day wandering through the alleys of Innsbruck, admiring the golden roof, and did some shopping.

While I was away, Mike took Lucy and some friends to the zoo. Their most exciting moment was feeding bats in Villa Dracula. A day later we were looking out for different animals - wild boar - but only saw some carved ones.
