Out and about

Playing in a local meadow

Hiking up the Baumgartenschneid above Tegernsee

The terrapins are finally outdoors
Bavaria has so many public holidays in May and June. It is wonderful. Last Thursday was Corpus Christi, so Mike, Belka and I took the train south to Tegernsee and did a gentle hike. I'm not as fit as those two, so I was grateful that Mike had chosen something relatively easy for my sake.

Coincidentally, we bumped into some neighbours and their children on our descent. The kids took it in turns to hold Belka's lead. She was a little confused about the sudden growth in numbers of her "pack", but coped well considering her obvious nervousness.

Now that the average outdoor temperature has risen, we have been able to put Thingummy and Wotsit in the pond. Typically, Thingummy spends his time trying to climb on the rock to sunbathe and Wotsit goes searching for the nearest exit. They have grown some more, so the fence around the pond is having to grow at a corresponding rate. Belka is scared stiff of the terrapins, funnily enough. If she sees any slight movement in or around the pond, she reverses towards the house.
