| A day out in the Karwendel |
Our hoped-for camping trip to Berchtesgaden never came about this summer. It had been our plan for when Mike and Lucy arrived back from Norway, but the weather wasn't suitable for camping. Instead, Mike and I went out together a couple of times, once to an art exhibition, and then with Belka on a boat trip across the lake for a sunny walk.
Mike and his four-legged hiking companion have clocked up a very large number of peaks, kilometres in distance and metres of height gain this year. Their Karwendel trip was their longest yet: more than 20km and 1,750m of ascent over some fine wild ridges. Belka's rucksack is still drawing friendly comments, as it is quite an unusual sight.
