The New Year finally brought the first dusting of snow. Good reason to get out and about, despite temperatures in Krailling and Munich dropping to -14°C. On Epiphany (a public holiday here), Mike and I went for a walk around the Englischer Garten in Munich and watched happy kids sledging down the slopes and brave surfers surfing the wave on Munich's famous Eisbach. Mike queued up for ages to get me a mug of Glühwein and himself a hot chocolate at a cafe that has old ski-lift gondolas to sit in. Later in the day, Mike and Belka went out together locally to enjoy afternoon sunshine.
The next day, they had their first ski tour of the season in the local Alps. Belka was able to walk in Mike's tracks uphill but had to bounce through Belka-deep powder snow on the descent.
And that brings us to the end of the Christmas holidays. Tomorrow, Lucy goes back to school and I have to start preparing lessons again, too.
