A day out in Diessen

Marienmünster
Paintings on buildings
Views of 65 peaks
It looks like I have to write the blog post myself this time. Sometimes Mike prepares a bit of text for me, because he is good at remembering the names of places (especially hills and mountains) and also hopes that I will post the latest photos quicker (doesn't always work).
Anyway, here we have some beautiful pictures from a day Epiphany that we spent around the small town of Diessen, which is in the southwestern part of Ammersee. It is the quaintest town I have seen in a long time. As you can see, the weather was wonderful. Our first stop was the Marienmünster, a grand church decorated inside with lots of gold, white and stucco. The third picture in that sequence above is of the ceiling. I asked Mike if he had lain on the floor to take it, but he hadn't. A service had been taking place at the time, so he had had to be very discreet.
Our walk was uphill via a nature trail to a viewpoint from where you could see 65 peaks. An information table had a photo printed on it and arrows to the names and heights of all the mountains. We couldn't have had a better day for it.
Today we are reflecting on three years of Belka. We received her, underweight and very nervous, three years ago today out of a white van that had come all the way from Varna, Bulgaria.
