We are now (half-)German

There was no white Christmas this year, but there was certainly a lot of lovely blue sky and sunshine. Right at the end of the year, we received our certificates of German citizenship and became officially half-German (keeping our British citizenship for the other half). We celebrated with friends at a New Year's party, and all of Munich let off fireworks to show appreciation of our new status.
Steph was so pleased with the Christmas decorations that Mike had knocked up from bits of wood (as shown in a previous blog) that she requested a mug tree and a new toilet-roll holder. So poor Mike (Mike has written this blog, by the way) had to trail around the local woods, looking for suitable raw material. Since several trees had been blown down in recent gales, he sawed off some promising-looking branches, dragged them home and hey presto, they are now looking pretty and being useful in the kitchen and downstairs loo respectively. The larger tree on the right of the photo may yet get turned into a coat stand ...
