Christmas has been particularly peaceful this year. We missed our onesie-clad, earphone-wearing teenager sitting on the settee watching YouTube videos, but knew she was having a really good time with her host family and their relatives and dogs. She watched us via video chat as we opened our stockings, and later in the day we saw each other again and were introduced to the folks she was spending Christmas Day with.
I organized tickets for Mike and me to see the opera buffa "The Barber of Seville" on Boxing Day, at the beautiful Cuvilliés theatre in the centre of Munich. It was an absolute treat. We thoroughly enjoyed the comedy and singing and were awed by the surroundings. I didn't realize that there are so many theatres in Munich and must certainly look for further opportunities for us to see performances.
