People talk of bucket lists and the things they really want to see, do and achieve in life. I actually only had two dreams: a flight in a Zeppelin, and train ride from London to Venice on the Orient Express. Today I fulfilled the former.
For just a few days, it has been possible to take a 40-minute airship ride over Munich, so rather than drive all the way down to Friedrichshafen on Lake Constance, we chose the local option. As it was a public holiday today, we had time. Up in the air by 10.15, we found ourselves looking down in awe at all our favourite places in Munich. The mountains were not visible, but we see them on plenty of other occasions, and it would have been a shame to be distracted from the wonderful views of our city. As you can see from the shadow of our airship, the sun did in fact shine just a little for us.
I can sum up the trip in one word: breathtaking!
