Watching things grow

Yellow landscape
Pink in the garden
Green on the windowsill
And other miscellaneous photos
At the foot of the local Alps, the fields are now full of meadow buttercups. Meanwhile the village greens around our neighbourhood are glowing with dandelions, and the farmers' fields of rape are even brighter. We are also busy cultivating plants on our kitchen windowsill, and although they are not as colourful, they grow at an impressive speed. The photos show the first four days of cress growth after the seeds have been moistened; on the fifth day, we eat it.

We have never had as many peony blooms as this year. They are gorgeous. I wish they lasted a little longer, but something else just as pretty will replace them once they lose their petals.

The bottom pictures are additions to our garden. I asked Mike if he fancied making an insect hotel, because the ones in the garden centres are jolly pricey. He always has the right materials lying around "just in case", so in no time at all we had a place for bees and other tiny creatures to reside.

A trip to a garden show at Kaltenberg castle (where the medieval show takes place with the jousting, etc.) resulted in a few purchases. The main one was the stone with slits - this has room inside for a light. The piggy mobile is made out of feathers and other natural materials; the feathers spin in the breeze and make the little figures a delight to watch.
