Goodbye Bob, S.I.P.

Last week, the bigger of our two terrapins - Bob - escaped from our pond. He was always a bit of an adventurer, darn him. Hanging signs around the neighbourhood helped to find out what happened to him: someone found him and deposited him in the nearby river. So Bob, wherever you are, Swim In Peace.

We didn't want Thingummy to be lonely, so I bought a replacement for Bob today. We've called him Wotsit, since my suggestion of "Jig" got the thumbs down from Mike and Lucy. Doodah was also an option, but sounds too German and would mean "you there", as in "Oi! You there!"

Other creatures inhabiting our house at the moment are four almost-frogs. We had six tadpoles to start with, two of which have already completely metamorphosed and been let out into the pond. Two down, four to go.

John and Rona have just gone home after visiting us for a week and they managed to pack a heap of sightseeing and country walks into that short time. Whatever gives them their energy, I want some too!

The sunrise photo above was incidentally taken on the Soiernspitze by Mike on the rare occasion when we let him sleep on top of a mountain.
