All our public holidays can't make up, however, for not being in Britain for the jubilee. Despite all-day coverage on Sunday of the pageant on the Thames, there was no live transmission of the concert yesterday on German TV. We had a little garden party with four neighbours here on Sunday, eating Victoria Sandwich cake off Union Jack paper plates and drinking tea, while watching the pageant through the window on television.
