The walk to Igelsee ("Hedgehog Lake") has become a firm favourite with Lucy and our hiking friends' children. This year was the first time that I joined them. Unfortunately, the lake was completely waterless this year, so we all missed out on the chance to swim. The little bit of remaining moisture allowed the kids to get stuck in the mud, though. The nearby stream contained a generous helping of frogs, so there was some entertainment.
Being longest night, there was some sort of celebration going on at the top of the Sonnenspitze ("Sun Peak") - that's the little caterpillar of light you can see on the right in the photo. And we built a warming campfire and grilled some sausages on sticks before going to bed.
Early next morning (around 6, if I remember correctly), Mike nipped up a mountain and did some sheep-worrying. Jolly fine sheep they were too.
