Yes, it certainly looks like we were having fun on that hiking weekend, doesn't it? In actual fact, it was jolly hot, and a really long way up to the hut (and back down again). What didn't help was the fact that it took Mike only an hour to run up and back down the rocky mountain behind the hut, but for us mere mortals it meant a gruelling round-trip of almost four hours - something we hadn't banked on given how fast Mike had been.
To prove just how fit Mike is: here's a photo of him last Tuesday at the B2Run, an annual event in which companies enter teams to run 6.4 km around the Munich Olympia park, finishing in the Olymic stadium. Mike finished 399th out of almost 28,000 runners (and was the fastest runner in his company's team), so he was very proud.
Yesterday it was Lucy's twelfth birthday. She asked specially for pancakes for breakfast, a wish that was easy to fulfil. I must have been standing on a slight rise in the lawn as we had the photo taken, because Lucy is actually the same height as me now ... and still growing.
