Saturday of last week was a Very Special Day, because we got to meet up with my mate Christi, from Houston Tx, and her nephew, Carter, who is currently studying in Freiburg for a few months. Christi and I met while working at Compaq back in those pre-Lucy days, and we hadn't seen each other since Lucy was a babe-in-arms. Here we are, almost 12 years later, after a filling meal of Wiener Schnitzel (!) at a town-centre Bavarian restaurant. Christi, Carter, it was wonderful to see you!

If you haven't yet seen enough summit crosses this year, don't fret:
Mike has taken even more photos of them. Talk about peak-bagging - I
think we'll have to rename it cross-bagging.

I'm glad Mike didn't get lonely on his Sunday hike. He had some rather hungry but altogether amiable choughs (that's pronounced "chuffs" for our American readers ;-) perched on his boots for a short while. Mike isn't normally the type to share his food, but on this occasion he was quite generous. So those choughs probably got their first taste of marmite, cheese and mustard sandwiches. The poor things.
