Christmas Eve

Christmas visitors
When Mike treats himself to something nice, it is usually a CD, an art book or some outdoor sports kit. Recently he came home from a trip to town after buying a new lightweight jacket with a padded front and a pair of very nice looking, stretchy hiking trousers. One doesn't allow such things to rest in the wardrobe of course; they have to be tried out immediately. So off Mike went in the dead of night up the Ettaler Mandl, a mountain close to Garmisch, and spent the night on top, by the cross in the photo. Apparently, the new kit was marvellous.

On the subject of new kit, Lucy is now the proud owner of a bright green down sleeping bag, guaranteed to keep warm and snuggly all girls who hate the cold. And I'm allowed to borrow it! We tried it out on the living room floor and were most impressed by how quickly it warmed us up.

Mike and Stella were with us over Christmas and it was a pleasure to play host to them. We enjoyed many games of dominoes and visited a handful of Christmas markets with them. The snow only came on their last day, unfortunately, so rather than be able to enjoy it fall prettily over Munich, they had to fly home - albeit with long delays.

As we approach the end of 2014, we wish you an exciting New Year's Eve and a great start to 2015.
