We left it to the latter end of the Easter school holidays to go for a long weekend away in the Bavarian Forest. You can imagine how happy we were to have chosen the time when there was finally some lovely spring weather. Our little hotel took only dog owners, so Belka was very welcome and seemed to warm to the place immediately. If a dog feels at ease from the outset, you know it must be all right there.
A friend had told us about a pleasant walk around a reservoir. It sounded like a good idea for one of the days, and indeed it was wonderful. Belka got to wear her rucksack again and make herself useful.
We also got to visit one of the places I've wanted to go to for a long time: a treetop walk which culminates in a spiral path up the dome structure you can see. Dogs aren't allowed, so Mike offered to stay at the bottom and take photos of Lucy and me.
It was a very relaxing short holiday. Belka got around four walks per day, Lucy and I got a massage, and Mike was able to cross off another peak by hiking, accompanied by Belka, up Rachel - the highest hill in the area (I say "hill" because it isn't anywhere near as high as the Alps). Ahh. Roll on our next trip.
